Delete your account

This page explains how to permanently delete your Nifty account — and everything stored in it — whether you use the website, the Android app, or the iPhone app. You can do it yourself in under a minute, or ask us to do it for you.

Delete it yourself

Sign in at app.nifty.gift/profile, or open the Nifty app and go to your profile.
Scroll to Your data at the bottom of the page.
Choose Delete account, type DELETE to confirm, then confirm again.

Deletion runs immediately — there is no waiting period and no way to undo it. Your account is removed from our database as soon as you confirm.

Download a copy first

On that same Your data screen, Export everything (JSON) downloads a complete copy of your profile, lists, items, and connections. Once the account is deleted we cannot recover any of it, so export first if you want to keep anything.

Can’t sign in? Ask us to delete it

If you’ve lost access to your account, email admin@nifty.gift from the address the account was created with, with the subject Delete my account. We’ll confirm you own the address, delete the account, and reply when it’s done — normally within a few business days, and always within 30 days of the request.

What gets deleted

Deleting your account permanently removes your login and everything attached to it, including:

Your profile, display name, and profile photo.
Every wishlist you own and every item on them, including lists in your trash.
Your “All About Me” gift profile, gift ideas, and saved notes.
Gift claims and contributions you made on other people’s lists.
Friendships, friend circles you own, and collaborator access you were given.
Gift exchanges you created, your participation in others’ exchanges, and your comments in them.
Notifications, push subscriptions, email preferences, calendar feeds, and occasion reminders.
Your email address and sign-in credentials.

What remains, and for how long

Encrypted backups. Our database provider keeps routine encrypted backups. Residual copies may persist there for up to 30 days before they age out, and are never used to restore a deleted account.
Other members’ records. Where another member’s own data referred to you — for example their private record of a gift they gave — the reference to your account is removed, but anything they wrote in their own records remains theirs.
Email already sent. Messages we already delivered sit in the recipient’s inbox, which we don’t control.
Records we must keep. Anything we’re legally required to retain, and aggregate counts that don’t identify you.

Deleting the app isn’t the same thing

Uninstalling the Nifty app from your phone removes the app, not your account. Your data stays on our servers until you delete the account using one of the methods above.
